Scan Intensity

Account-wide simultaneous hosts and requests-per-host, plus optional per-asset override profiles.

Scan Intensity controls how aggressively Guard scans your assets. It has an account-wide default and optional override profiles for specific assets.

The Edit Default Scan Intensity dialog has two sliders:

Maximum simultaneous hosts scanned controls how many assets are scanned in parallel. Maximum rate of requests per host controls scanning intensity per individual asset.

To scan specific assets more gently than the slider minimum allows, create an override profile for those assets.

Click Save. Guard shows Rate limiting updated successfully.

Override profiles

  1. On the Scan Intensity card, click Edit. The Edit Scan Intensity dialog lists the Default row and any override profiles, each with its hosts and rq/s values.
  2. Click Edit on the Default row to change the default, or on a profile row to change that profile.
  3. Click Add Profile to create an override. In the Add Override dialog, set the simultaneous hosts and request rate, then choose the assets the profile applies to.

An override value left unset inherits the default and shows as Inherit (N), for example Inherit (500) or Inherit (250 rq/s).

Who can edit

If you cannot edit settings, the Edit button is hidden.

What this is not

It does not pause scanning (Scan Status). It does not set how often scans start (Scan Schedule). It does not set the scan depth (Scan Level).
