Monthly AI Spend
How the monthly AI budget cap works, who can change it, and what happens if you lower it below category allocations.
Monthly AI Spend on Settings → AI shows the account's AI spend from the start of the month to date against its monthly limit. It is separate from Total AI Spend and from the Per-scan AI budget.
How the limit works
AI calls stop once recorded monthly usage reaches the limit. The final call can take usage slightly above it. Usage resets on the first of each month (UTC).
If the account has no AI budget yet, the card shows Not provisioned yet. For customer accounts, the card notes Set by your Guard Intelligence tier.
Who can change the limit
Only a super-admin can edit the limit. Everyone else sees the card locked with Contact support@praetorian.com to update the AI budget. Users who can manage settings can still change how the limit is split in Category Allocation.
To change it, click Edit, enter a Monthly spend limit (USD) of $0 or more, and save. Guard shows AI spend limit updated on success.
Lowering the limit below the allocation
Category allocations are dollar limits within the monthly limit. If the new limit is lower than the categories already allocated, the editor warns Saving a lower budget clears the category allocation. Saving then removes every category limit before changing the monthly limit. Set up Category Allocation again afterward if you still want it.
What this card does not change
It does not set category shares (Category Allocation), the per-scan limit (Per-scan AI budget), or turn automations such as hunts or Cato on or off.
